Books on E-Types 1961 to 1981:

  • Kenneth Ullyett’s The Jaguar Companion is one of a few books about Jaguars before the E-type was introduced.

  • By 1970 there were books on Jaguar and E-Types that were not historical reviews but discussed them as current cars,
e.g. Herbert Williamson’s The New Jaguar Guide of 1964, Joseph Wherry’s The Jaguar Story of 1967, and Lord Montagu's Jaguar of 1967.

  • Perhaps the first E-Type history was included in Lord Montagu’s Jaguar Britain’s Fastest Export in 1971, and
another brief review was in Michael Frostick’s The Jaguar Tradition in 1973.

  • Possibly the first detailed discussion of E-Type technological evolution was T.F. Haddock’s “Notes on the First
500 E-Types” in 1976 in The E-Jag News. This was also the first publication of a register begun a year or two earlier (when the
E-Type was just out of production).

  • Subsequently books exclusively on the E-Type began to come out, including Chris Harvey’s E-Type End of an Era
    in 1977, Paul Skilleter’s The Jaguar E-Type, A Collectors Guide in 1979.
